Safety, symbolism, or both?

Donning protective masks the second the American cyclists arrive in China… how symbolically pleasing for someone concerned with China’s rampant human rights abuses. Photo from the New York Times.

So, um, Boston pretty much rocks at everything

Congratulations to the Celtics on their 17th NBA title! Yet another win that proves just how much better than every other city Boston is. The AP ran an ecstatic post-game story: On a new parquet floor below aging championship banners, the Boston Celtics won their 17th NBA title and a first one—at last—for Paul Pierce, [...]

Concept Design: Release 2

So, um, Boston (or perhaps New England, which is really Massachusetts) kicks so much ass at sports. The Pats nailed their sixteenth straight win tonight, to become the only team other than the Dolphins to have a perfect regular season. Let’s hope they sweep the playoffs and the Super Bowl, too! Anyway, Release 2 of [...]

Two interesting hyperlinks

Heh, who actually calls a link a “hyperlink” anymore? Krugman of the Times makes fun of America’s messed up priorities. Reuters says Boston doesn’t suck anymore, since all our sports teams are mopping the floors with their competitors. Duh.

It’s a happy day for all in Red Sox Nation. The Sox just won the World Series, shutting out Colorado by winning the first four games. It’s not as momentous as 2004, but damn, is victory sweet!

The Sox won, so today was a good day

They’ve won their last four games with a combined score of 43-6. Crazy! Today, today, today. What did I do? Well, I hit snooze enough times to successfully skip my first class, Latin. Oops. I have to stop doing that. I woke up and immediately starting writing the midterm essay that was due by 2:30. [...]

We’re going to the World Series, baby!

It all comes down to tomorrow, er… today

The Red Sox kicked Cleveland’s ass. It was phenomenal. Once again I ate too much (so full!). I took a nice long shower, have become fully nocturnal again, and earlier tonight I watched a box theatre performance. Despite my otherwise good weekend, I feel myself slipping into another generalized malaise. I don’t like these times. [...]
