The numeric outlook on final exams

In order to get final grades of 90 or better, I must get at least an 84 on my final paper for HIST291, and at least a 95 on the AMST230 final exam. In order to get credit for LAT101, I must get better than a 26.6 on the final exam. That is, if the [...]

Math, and quasi-stream of consciousness

I’m sitting here waiting for class to start. There is a big algebra problem on the blackboard left over from a prior class. I just did it in my head! Math is silly but at least I remember my order of operations. I think my Wesleying posting spree may be coming to a close. It’s [...]

Numbers and other such things

I don’t have anything even mildly intelligent to reflect upon tonight, which kind of bothers me. In place of any form of introspection or observation, I offer some numbers: Days until classes end: 8 Days until final exams: 15 Days until I go home, probably: 17 Avg. price of regular gasoline in CT: $3.25 Mileage [...]

This positively sucks

Read this. Then know that I am profoundly disappointed with the classes available next semester, due to the fact that all the ones I want to take are in the same two time slots as my two required classes. This positively sucks. … You know it’s bad when I’m seriously looking at Elementary Statistics and [...]

Academics can be pretty stressful

It’s that time of the year again: course selection time! And as usual, I’ve left my course selections to the day before my advisor appointment. Tomorrow is my appointment with Professor Potter, where we’ll discuss the courses I want to take, hopefully some stuff about my major program (she’s the chair of the American Studies [...]

The obligatory status-of-my-life entry

Meh. Not much has been happening lately. I skipped Latin this morning, which was bad. But I was so sleepy! I still had yet to fully recover from the all-nighter I had pulled the night before, which in the end was pretty pointless, because the paper I wrote on-and-off during that night spent awake didn’t [...]

Good ol’ procrastinating Justin is back!

HIST291 paper due at 2:40 this afternoon. It’s 1:30 AM now. Silly me, I wasted away a few hours after dinner, napped, and drove to A&P to pick up some Cheez-Its before starting my paper, finally, around midnight. It’s looking like it’ll be an all-nighter, which is not good: I have work from 10:00 to [...]

This is why I love Wesleyan

AMST230: Professor Potter comes in, pops a CD in the rack, and starts blaring a live cut of Jefferson Airplane’s “Somebody to Love”. No words to introduce it, no prior expectation. Just the music thumping through the (surprisingly good) speakers of the classroom. Share this entry:

A mountain of vocabulary!

I just made a 1-5/8-inches-tall stack of flash cards for Latin. I’d estimate that’s about 175 cards. And that’s only the verbs, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections. I still have pronouns, nouns, adjectives, and idioms to go. But that’s a task for another night. I shouldn’t have run the 3.7 miles that I ran on [...]

Thoughts on the Help Desk relocation

After we were reproached today by our professor for not putting enough effort into Latin, I stopped by the new Help Desk, which is now in SCIE 116 instead of SCIE 143. It’s, uh, interesting. Brighter, devoid of any personality in the form of decorations on the walls and such. Definitely not as cozy; it’s [...]
