My first quasi-all-nighter of the semester

The Gospel of Truth portrays a gnostic vision of the value of knowledge as opposed to ignorance, of the supremacy of truth and unity as opposed to worldly oblivion, and the importance of Jesus Christ as the revealer of divine truth. It is a homily in which Jesus emerges as a teacher, and in which [...]

Early Christianities and the Gospel of Truth

The Gospel of Truth is so fascinating. Christianity would have been so different had the Valentinian gnostics not been derided as heretics, and knocked out of the running. Jesus’ crucifixion as the divine revelation itself! Awakening through knowledge of the Father of Truth! The cyclical progression from darkness to light, from ignorance to knowledge, from [...]

People, not collectivities, have agency and will

Today I learned that methodological individualism makes so much more sense than methodological collectivism. Thanks, ECON256! Or, I should say, thanks Adelstein… because ECON256 is just an abstraction that we use as shorthand for the collective actions of a certain group of individuals! After all, a class doesn’t actually have the ability to teach me [...]

These are the days of our lives

I’ve been trying to live life this semester so that every day means something important. I think that effort has been largely successful so far. I have met plenty of new people, taken some atypical chances socially, and have come to an inner peace regarding some relations that had been unsettled. I have begun mentoring [...]

That good ol’ grade point average

After checking daily for nearly two weeks, my last grade showed up on my Academic History page at around two o’clock this morning. Finally! With numbers in hand, I made a fancy map of all my grades in Excel, and it gave me some disturbing numbers. With the exception of my second semester at Wesleyan [...]

Final exams are now 66.66666667% done

HIST291: paper completed last night. Overall, I think, pretty well done. AMST230: in-class portion completed in half an hour; take-home essay completed in an hour. Overall, I think, very well done. LAT101: exam at 7 o’clock. This will be the toughest of all. Share this entry:

It had to happen eventually

I have officially entered that pre-final exam state in which I don’t even care anymore how they turn out, I just want them to be over. It is not conducive to studying. Share this entry:

Quick updates before I eat and study

I finished my HIST291 paper 12 minutes before midnight—over 12 hours before it was due! This is a significant accomplishment for me. I think it’s evident that I put more effort into the second essay rather than the first, but I think both ended up being pretty well done. The second essay, especially, was widely [...]
