It seems like my blog has become a lyrics site lately (albeit much more stylish, and with no blinking ads covering the screen). But I can’t help it: this music is just too good. Tonight, in lieu of working on my assignment that was supposed to be handed in yesterday, I’m posting Cory Woodward’s song “Slipping Away,” a tune about the finite nature of our lives and the realization that we mustn’t waste any time, because we never know when it will run out on us.
I remember, I was twelve years old
And the world was simple, no one got old
No one died, nobody died
An uncle passed and then a grandfather, too
It made me realize there’s nothing we can do about dying
Just don’t waste my timeWe all know it’s slipping away
We all know time is slipping away for goodI’m wasting time when I’m standing in line
Or I’m waiting for a doctor to tell me I’m fine
And why? We’re all scared to die
Undecided by what would be worse
Being caught on a freeway or pushing the dirt
Oh boy, you might ask, Why?We all know it’s slipping away
We all know time is slipping away for good
We all know it’s slipping away
We all know time is slipping away for goodAt 25, I don’t want any kids
Yeah, this world is crowded enough as it is
And when there’s so many other lives to save
We get unhappy and everyone hurts
And when life gets hectic, we’re turning into jerks
Oh boy, what’s going on here?We all know it’s slipping away
We all know time is slipping away for good
We all know it’s slipping away
We all know time is slipping away for goodWe all know…
We all know…
