The Patriot Ledger ran an opinion piece by a Weymouth reader, Irving Murstein, in today’s issue. After the first few paragraphs, my mouth was wide open in disgust. After a few more paragraphs, I was cracking up.
It’s past time for the president to come on TV in a living room chat about the energy crisis and the high cost of gasoline. He should declare an energy emergency and by decree open up ANWR in Alaska and offshore areas to oil exploration.
Ask for a four-day workweek.
Propose an immediate program to supplant oil plants producing electricity with nuclear power plants and/or clean coal plants.
He should ask for a ban on trading by investors for the commodity of oil.
He should try and convene a major-nations summit of oil consumers and suggest starting to buy oil directly from OPEC.
He should ban weapons sales to Saudi Arabia, which may be used against us someday like Iraq.
World riots over gasoline and oil problems should not be tolerated.
Finally, if all else fails, the amassing of the world’s money in Saudi Arabia should be dealt with by the nations of the world putting together a two-million-man army to invade and dethrone the anarchist kingdom.
Obviously, what Saudi Arabia is aiming for is using the control of oil and the world’s wealth to pressure Israel to withdraw from Jerusalem and parts of Israel, if not all Israel.

See, this would be hilarious if the guy didn’t actually mean what he was saying. But he does. And he has the right to vote…and leave his house. *gulp*
That people like this cancel out my vote… yikes :X
Ah well. Get out the vote
I’m trying to organize voter registration drives here in Middletown this summer. We’ll see how that goes… I’m still waiting to hear back about some details
Excellent! Best of luck with the drive.
