The Great Outdoors’ “Spring Flower”

CBC Radio 3 has added this excellent song to its rotation. And I’m not going to lie: the first time I heard it, my eyes might have moistened a bit…

You can listen to the song [MP3, 3.5 MB] via the band’s website, tgod.ca.

I can’t find the lyrics anywhere on the Interweb, so I’ve tried to work them out here. I’m confident in the accuracy of everything but the third verse (as I have it now, it doesn’t make much sense). If you can figure out the lyrics in that section, please do leave a comment so I can correct them.

Open up your love like a spring flower
Share this river and revel in its power
Take me as a friend, take me as a lover
And open up your love like a spring flower
Like a spring flower
Like a spring flower
Like a spring

Used to be so quiet
And tiptoe like a prowler
I’ve got you in my life
I’m a wild howler
I’m a wild howler
I’m a wild howler
I’m a wild

In the villages, we play hard
Generosity and a river attraction
In the times we’ll fall asleep
We’re beating us in constancy
In the lake under a forest

Open up your love like a spring flower
Share this river and revel in its power
Take me as a friend, take me as a lover
And open up your love like a spring flower
Like a spring flower
Like a spring flower
Like a spring

I recommend buying the entire EP, which is available online for $2.22.
