- I need to wake up in 4.5 hours for work. I’ve been trying to take the T to work, but the garage at Braintree is always full and I have nowhere to park my car, so I just get on the highway and deal with traffic and construction and gas prices and greenhouse gas emissions. Oh well.
- John McCain may be at my hotel tomorrow. The Secret Service was there tonight, making preparations. It’s probably some big fancy rich-people donor event, since it’s not listed on his campaign’s website.
- It was 101º at noon today, when I drove through Holbrook.
- Today, at work, sucked. It was sweaty and physically taxing. Ever tried to move a 450-lb. photocopier on shoddy casters over a rough concrete floor, up a ramp, into an elevator, and down a carpeted hallway? Don’t try it unless your life depends on it…
- I paid $4.04/gal for gas today. I want to stop driving.
- I’ve reconsidered, and probably won’t be contesting my traffic ticket.
- I donated $25 to the Obama campaign—my first political donation ever. I’ve been considering volunteering for the campaign in the fall.
- I haven’t slept under the covers in quite a while.
- I want a thunderstorm. It’s been a while since I’ve been in a big thunderstorm.
- I want a girlfriend. It’s been a while since I’ve been in… I mean, since I’ve had a girlfriend.
- Financial aid sucks. Income goes down, tuition goes up… and “need” doesn’t go up? WTF, Office of Financial Aid? I call B.S. on Roth’s plans to ease the financial burden for Wesleyan students.
- New Orleans planning starts today after work.
- I will most certainly go to the beach on Thursday.
- I’ve lots of fun updates to post. Ames Nowell, political debates on the T, bike rides, and parties… oh my! Anyway, those updates will come reeeaaalll soon now, mm-hmm.

Move to New York! You’ll never have to drive! No tickets, no gas, no worries! Plus, Dara’s moving here after she graduates, so you’ll have at least two friends. Think about it.
When I found out my cousin was seriously considering voting for McCain, I was in such a state of shock that I also donated $25 to Obama.
Holly: New York, eh? I dunno. City life definitely seems to have its advantages at our age, but New York has always seemed a little too… big… for me. I prefer Boston.
But, you and Dara and I can meet on random weekends in the middle someplace.
Yelena: Now all you have to do is convince her to make the right choice in November!
Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it. When I moved here, I’d never even had a job before, and I didn’t know a single person. Well, I knew one person, but I hadn’t seen her in two years. Anyway, the point is, when I moved here, I was kind of fucked up the ass, but I more or less made it, and I think you could more than make it here. I believe in you! Also, New York is physically quite tiny. The size is all in your head.
lol. 20+ million people is not tiny. By too big, I don’t mean only physical size, but rather the concentration of people. I like humanity plenty, but there comes a point where I just need some space (and trees, and forests, and ponds) to myself.
New York City post-grad will be great
Don’t worry, individual neighbourhoods within NYC feel much smaller and more community like
) It’s really like ten different cities that are close to each other and called one big city.
Woo donating to Obama! This is the first campaign I’ve ever donated to; it’s pretty exciting
Also I’m glad you’ve gone the democrat route this election cycle,
)
lol. All right, I’m done thinking about post-grad plans for the moment.
And as I said, after McCain came out with his economic plan, it kinda hit me how much like Bush he’ll be. I think he’d be a good president if he weren’t running on the Republican ticket (and thus, forced to take a rightward tack), but he won’t be getting my vote in November.
I actually even liked McCain. I resent that he’s been being called “a second Bush” because he is in fact very different and much more intelligent than Bush. But then this news came out today. I’m sure you know how I feel about Guantanamo Bay, and McCain’s opinion on yesterday’s decision frankly terrifies me. No use having a smarter president, if all it means is they’ll create bad policy more effectively. Look at this.
I just… aaaaaggh. I don’t understand at all :/
I believe the population of New York City is eight million, not twenty million.
Mad: lol. It’s probably best that we don’t discuss the recent Guantanamo decision by the Supreme Court. :-X
Holly: You are correct, according to Wikipedia. Which means that I am wrong, according to Wikipedia!
That may be the first and last time I ever prove you wrong about anything, so I am savoring the moment. And it is delicious.
