A sign that Spring is on its way

This afternoon, I came home from Red & Black to find two little flowers opening up next to our front steps. One is solid purple, while the other is white with purple stripes. It’s nice to see a little life in what is otherwise a pretty bleak front yard. Share this entry:

Encyclopedia Dramatica… for the lulz

Every once in a while I’ll find the link to Encyclopedia Dramatica in my bookmarks. And then I’ll remember how it just may be one of the funniest websites on the Interweb. My favorites of today: I did it for the lulz, and 16-year-old girl. Share this entry:

Some post-Spring Break notes

Looking at the long-outdated websites of old bands that I love makes me sad. Take, for example, the website of Something Corporate. The artwork reflective of their 2003 release North, the headline story about a 2002 show at Tower Records. The pre-Web 2.0 cluttered design (actually a bit refreshing), the falling leaves in the Flash [...]

It’s quite painful to walk right now

Walking barefoot back from the beach was a bad idea. I think there are pieces of metal or glass lodged in there. I’ll be walking on my tippy-toes for a few days, it looks like! Share this entry:

The perfect ending to my Spring Break

With its characteristic boxy numerals, the dashboard provides a telling clue: 3:29 AM. Rain continues to fall, gentler now, as I turn off the radio, rotate the key out of the ignition, and grab my jacket from the back seat. I open the door, place my feet on the ground and stand on the driveway, [...]

The Acorn’s “Antenna”

Was it always there, or contracted? Was it just the thought to which I was attracted? The body speaks in chemicals A song and dance not visible But I’ve been told, Don’t go looking The tune was tuned to find you Distance drowns the signal And the call of constellations I’m picking up the language [...]

1,650 new calories floating around in my body

Mmm… The 17.5-oz. tube of Pillsbury Grands! Cinnamon Rolls with icing. Delicious and so, so filling. And now, I have an extra 1,650 calories floating around in my stomach. I hope they digest quickly, because it’s really hard to move right now… Share this entry:

Things to do before Summer Break

Despite the fact that it’s snowy and grey in Massachusetts today, spring will soon be upon us. Which means that the best part of the year, back at Wes, will be before us very shortly. Spring! The time of open windows, blooming flowers, and buds on the trees. The time of lazy weekend afternoons, lounging [...]

Haircut needed: hence, opinions needed

OK, dudez. I’m getting sick of my current hairstyle. It’s been a month or two since my last haircut, which means it’s getting long again. That means it’s really curly and easily tangled. It dries out, especially on the sides and in the back. It takes extra long to get it wet and wash it [...]

The Russian Futurists’ “Paul Simon”

There are several broad categories that, for me, make a good song great. Some can be dark and brooding, but with introspective or probing lyrics and a sound to match. Some can be bright and happy, with witty writing and a bouncy melody. Others just need to have a catchy trumpet fanfare (I’m a sucker [...]
