Something that made me laugh, from a Times article touching, in part, on the analytical tendency to either synthesize or particularize:
For the anthropologists, the exceptions were more important than the rules. Instead of seeking overarching laws, the call was to “contextualize,” “complexify,” “relativize,” “particularize” and even “problematize,” a word that in their dialect was given an oddly positive spin. At some moments, the seminar seemed less like a scientific meeting than a session of the Modern Language Association.
Earlier, I watched a bit of Michael Moore’s propaganda piece, Sicko. So I found it fitting that I came across another Times article talking about what, in the words of one doctor, is becoming the “dark side of American medicine.” File this one under: Another Reason Why Getting Rid of Private Health Insurers And Using More of Our Tax Dollars to Pay for Universal Healthcare is a Ridiculous Idea.
Let’s see… I also did some digging on European economic growth and relative international tax burdens… Read some more of Slaughterhouse, a book that was assigned for AMST230 but later was taken off the syllabus; it’s about the Bosnian Genocide, something I had known only bits and pieces about previously… And I took a look at the online makeover that Laura gave me.
I guess I’d make a halfway-decent emo kid, after all!
I spent about three hours plowing through online forums about the tendency of the Linksys WCG200 router (which I own) to drop its Internet connection every five minutes, or whenever the traffic load gets heavy. Looks like Best Buy might be seeing a return soon…
I also watched some NASA HD videos of space shuttle liftoffs. One thousand miles per hour! That’s entirely unbelievable. Watching the beauty of that feat of engineering and human ingenuity kinda rekindled my dreams of being an astronaut. But ugh, science.
I ate a ton of good food today, and washed many dishes. Also, my sleep schedule has become really bizarre. Like, even more bizarre than usual.

It’s probably better than my schedule. As I said on LJ: I accidentally fell asleep at 8pm. Then I woke up around 1:30 am, chilled around until 4 am, then went back to sleep until 9. What the hell is that?
Also the online makeover is great
At least you’re sleeping when the sun is down. I just woke up. I literally slept from 8 AM to 6 PM!
P.S. Thanks.
