I was in Marshfield earlier tonight, hanging around with Chris, Josh, and Matt. It was fun; we shaved Matt’s head and watched some of Full Metal Jacket. I heard some interesting stories about altercations with blunt metal objects, and breakups. We stocked up for tomorrow night’s party (grand total: around $93). I learned that Matt signed up for the Air Force, and goes off to Texas sometime in April.
Tomorrow night should be great. It sounds like a lot of people will be there: Chris, Josh, Matt, Eve, Corinne, maybe Jason, Monique and Kris, Paul (he and Kris both got to come home for Christmas—an unusual circumstance, I think), Tina and Dave, Spaz, and probably a few more people. I don’t know if Wendy’s showing up, or Kate, or Lauren (Spaz’s ex), or the Robertori twins. Oh! I think Daly is going to be there, too. Maybe Adler, as well?
Anyway, it’s going to be big. And fun! And I should sleep. But first, let’s write a little more, because I woke up at 4:30 in the afternoon and am nowhere close to being tired.
I finished all my Christmas shopping today. And all it took was a credit card, a visit to Charity Navigator, and some entering of information. I actually did go to the Plaza earlier to pay a bill that wouldn’t have made it in time had I sent it through the mail, and damn, what a frenzy. Just, people everywhere, buying things and rushing around to buy more things and trying to turn their money into a sign of affection. Everyone likes getting things, no doubt; but the gift-giving holiday culture has just become so institutionalized, it’s a bit repulsive.
So instead, in lieu of buying presents for people, I donated the money I would’ve spent to charity. I made two contributions to the New England Forestry Foundation: one in the name of Chris, Josh, and Matt; and the other in the name of my housemates. And I donated a chunk o’ change to Angel Flight Northeast in the name of my family. The NEFF had an impressive track record according to their financial filings, with over 90% of contributions going directly toward their program expenses; they work to protect privately-owned forests throughout New England through education, property ownership, land management, and that kinda stuff. Angel Flight also had an excellent financial rating; they’re the people who give free med-flights to those in need of critical care. They also fly donated organs and blood around to where they’re needed.
I won four bucks on a scratch ticket. And ate Chinese food for the first time in a long time. I have to get some change at the bank when I wake up, so we can play poker at the party. I must not forget!
Abington made the radio today. A DJ on WAAF brought up the fight that broke out at AHS after the woman-battering assembly thing. Ha! I’d read about that in the Ledger the other day. Crazy. Also, the DJ said that the Massachusetts Highway Department was already over-budget for snow removal. WTF? It’s not even the end of December yet!
It was snowing on and off all day today. There is so much snow here. And I’ll say it again: it’s so pretty! Post-finals, I’m finally getting into the groove of Christmas. We’ve got the Christmas tree all lit up and decorated, and the house has the lights on it, and there’s white snow everywhere, and, well, only three days until Christmas! It’s an exciting time.
I’m failing to articulate thoughts as I would like. Which is a shame, because I have a lot left over from last night to say, and a lot to talk about from tonight. But clearly my mind is not focused on the task at hand. I am going to play some Unreal instead. And then go to bed. Good night!

I, too, went to the Plaza this week. I had to go to the Apple store to see about my not-working power cord (conclusion: it’s broken). I completely forgot that the mall would be ridiculous and busy. I mean, I hate malls anyway, but it was worse than usual. I’m sorry you had to go through the same thing.
Wow, Braintree’s the closest Apple Store to you? Well, I guess the only other ones are probably north of the city. That’s no fun. Neither is your broken power cord. I hope your bootleg solution works in the meantime!
