Back in the Bay State (again)

Winter Break has begun. After a few days of sitting around in Connecticut doing nothing terribly exciting, I’m now in my room back in good ol’ Abington. The ride up was a mess, what with snow and rain and general nastiness, but everything up here is so pretty. There’s something to be said about living on a quiet street in the suburbs, instead of along a busy state highway. The snow here is white and puffy (and deep!), whereas back in Middletown it’s all brown and icy and chunky. Gross.

I’ve got my lava lamp heated up, but it doesn’t seem as fluid as it used to be. I guess that’s what happens when it isn’t used for a year. Also, one of the leaves of my bamboo plant got bent and now it tilts down. Poor thing. But the plant itself is enormously tall.

I have a lot of little things to do over break… Apparently Jia will be shadowing a cancer researcher at Harvard in January, so that’ll be cool to meet up with him in Boston. And, more near-term, is tomorrow night’s Christmas party in Marshfield. Woot!

Today, as I was walking down on Main Street to run some errands, the pay phone on the corner of 66 and Main rang. I had never actually heard a pay phone ring outside of movies and TV shows. I briefly considered whether I should pick it up, with thoughts of The Ring-esque death omens coming to mind. But I couldn’t resist answering a random ringing pay phone, so I did. It was someone from the Connecticut Department of Health conducting a survey of Connecticut residents. Since I was in a rush (and also don’t pay taxes in Connecticut and so don’t think I’m a resident), I opted out.

I passed Latin. I checked the Academic History page earlier, and it had a lovely “CR” next to LAT101. I am relieved.

There’s a lot I have to say, but as usual, I’m not going to sit down and write it all now (despite it being past six o’clock in the morning). I think I may actually go to sleep soon. Crazy! So, for now, good night.
