I will host an Oldies Soirée next semester.
I will find all the oldies songs in my collection and buy a bunch of the classics from the iTunes Store, and on a warm afternoon in May, we will open all the windows, letting the breeze drift through the house and the sun shine in on us, as bright as our smiles. Our guests will spill out onto the porch and into the backyard, where we will have speakers. And there will be a picnic in the backyard. I will have on a pair of Buddy Holly glasses that I bought at a costume shop, and a 60s-style suit. We will all enjoy a summery feast as we listen to the sounds of The Cowsills and Harpers Bizarre.
As the sun starts to set we’ll turn all the lights in the house on, and put out the classy drinks and snacks. Perhaps we will have a jazz ensemble performing in the living room. Everyone will have changed into suits with gaudy bow ties and shiny shoes, and the jazz and the oldies will fill the house with cheer, and memories of the days when all was happy and love was real. We’ll all dance into the wee hours of the night and fall asleep under the stars, on blankets in the backyard, dreaming about love and the future, as Petula Clark’s “Downtown” tickles our sleeping ears with the infinite possibilities of endless optimism.

Heh. This is so up my alley. When? When?
Oh, and I have loads of oldies I’d be willing to lend so you don’t have to download them from iTunes. :]
Excellent! As for the date, though, I don’t know. I have to seek the approval and support of my housemates, first.
