Another fairly low-key weekend, recapped

As all good weekends do, this one began on Thursday night. But, unfortunately, Thursday night was not a fun night. I pulled an (almost, but not really) all-nighter to finish my History paper. I completed it at around 5:30, slept for 4.5 hours, and then woke up for…

Friday! After Latin, I made some macaroni and cheese and was once again disgusted by how much butter I consume in the process of making a box of that stuff. I went to the bank and talked to Tamara some, then it was off to work: I got the Argus online in about forty minutes, which was probably a new record. Then it was off to Learning Objects, where I worked on the Wriston project, which is coming along well.

Claire and I went to dinner at Usdan, which sucked (as usual). Then, on a whim, we went to the Film Series movie, Live Free or Die Hard. Mark Bomback, a Wes alum and one of the screenwriters, was there for the showing. The movie itself kicked tons of ass; it takes a good movie to keep me bent over in my seat, making the punching motions in the fight scenes, but this one did it. I even ended up sweating! I can’t remember the last time a movie got me so involved. Clearly, the action movie genre is where it’s at. After the movie, Bomback had a Q and A session, which was both funny and informative.

Later that night, Claire and I hosted a small Clone High marathon at the house. Renee’s birthday party was going on, and a bunch of people unfortunately had to do work, but Lauren and Katie and Keith came by and we got through all of the first disc, which was quite an achievement.

On Saturday night, Rachel, Jeffrey, Claire, and I went to Haveli for a late dinner. I got a Manhattan, which was pretty tasty. As usual, I ate too much, and felt like being pretty inactive the rest of the night. So I hooked the computer up to the TV, and Claire and I watched Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, and then some other things which I will not publish on a publish blog.

Today was totally lazy. It started snowing, and so it was dark, and so once I laid down on my bed to do some reading, it was a pretty safe bet that I’d fall asleep. And I did. Basically today was a day for intense procrastination. Around midnight, I started my Latin homework.

I’m really in love with the song “Nice Day” by The Salteens.

Friday’s issue of the Argus was the best in a while. There was the article about Ashley Casale’s protest march down to the military recruitment center, which was just plain badass. And Ed Klein’s defense of eating meat:

Animals are just like babies: they eat, sleep, shit, and piss. So, if it’s socially acceptable to abort a pregnancy, what’s so taboo about eating veal chops?

Let’s not forget about Christine’s analysis of hipsterism, which I’m sure probably caused a momentary feeling of anger among certain populations on campus. And finally, the Wespeak about divestiture from Yum! Brands, a brilliant and (I hope) satirical piece mocking the defense contractor divestment debate. I haven’t seen a more entertaining Argus in a long time.

The Onion was also really good when I checked it out today. Their newish Onion News Network videos are hilarious.

It sounds like a nice weekend :D

I guess I’m going to break my non-argus-reading streak (i read it a lot at the beginning of the semester, and it just made me really homesick! so then I vowed to stop) to read this issue :P Ah well :D

ps. ha! ed klein’s argument doesn’t work on me. i so win.

also, consuming butter while making macaroni and cheese, isn’t as bad as consuming ~half the cookie dough, while making cookies :X

lol. Yes, by the terms of Ed Klein’s argument, you are morally consistent!

Doesn’t eating raw cookie dough expose you to salmonella?
