They’ve won their last four games with a combined score of 43-6. Crazy!
Today, today, today. What did I do? Well, I hit snooze enough times to successfully skip my first class, Latin. Oops. I have to stop doing that. I woke up and immediately starting writing the midterm essay that was due by 2:30. That finished, I had to take the midterm exam for the same class. Neither went particularly well; that class is going to take some serious effort next quarter. It’s not that I don’t comprehend the material, it’s just that I haven’t done enough of the reading to successfully incorporate it into a paper, and I haven’t put in enough effort to really do a good job in the class. It’s not hard, I just haven’t been able to muster the energy to be engaged.
I walked out of the exam to find a bunch of Middletown kids on BMXs, crowded around my bike, which was locked around the lamppost. I unlocked it and they were surprised that it was mine. “That thing is ancient!” one of them said. I told them it was 2001 or 2002, but they didn’t buy it. Weird.
I took a quick trip to Usdan, where I found Sarah Leonard buying music from that shaggy guy, and she gave me two hugs, which lifted my spirits. Came home; talked to Mad for a while, which is always wonderful. Then we went to dinner. I picked up a big, pretty, sturdy brown leaf that had fallen, and stuck it in my hair. I walked around with it in there at dinner, and got some jeers from (what must’ve been) one of the freshman jock tables on my way out. Whoop-de-do.
Had Help Desk; Micah came in handy, because his brother has an mlb.tv account, which let me listen to the game live and online. Jan Marie stopped by, which was nice; we’re going for coffee tomorrow afternoon. Mm, Klekolo.
I had to walk home from the ‘Desk in the rain, which is never fun. It’s so much easier to ride my bike around campus—the walk is so long! But I’m done with having a puddle down my back from the spray of the tires. Clicked on the EyeTV, watched the Red Sox rape and pillage the Rockies (13-1), and talked a bit with Erica. Always an interesting conversation.
Oh! Good news! The Weakerthans show is a go! Josh has committed to go, and I do believe Chris will be in, as well. I can’t wait. Now I just have to find someone to cover my Help Desk shift next Thursday. Oh, but what’s up with Ticketmaster? There are, like, a million extra charges they tack on to tickets. The tickets themselves were $15, then there’s a convenience charge and handling charge or whatever they call it, that added up to a combined $6.95. That’s nearly half the ticket price! And I didn’t even choose to print my ticket, or have it shipped to me, which would’ve added another few dollars, at least. As Mad would say: totes ridic!
It’s off to read some Ray Raphael now. Yay, American Revolution!
NOTE (2:59 AM): Staying up until my usual 4:30-5:00 is so much less fun when Jeffrey goes to bed before midnight, as he has the past few nights. ::Sigh::
