Dilemma: too big, but also too small

Express JeansI’ve been buying clothes exclusively from Express since my brother started working there. It’s cool: the clothes are pretty stylish, and I think they make me look nice. Plus, it’s a bit of a niche market at Wes to be wearing something other than grungy tattered stuff, or cling-wrap hipster jeans with four layers of shirts. But the one problem I have with Express is: their jeans!

I used to be a Levi’s guy. Their 527s were comfortable, cheap, available pretty much everywhere, and looked pretty good. But I’m quickly wearing down the last of my Levi’s, and in my planning for the future, I decided that it was time to move on. So I went looking for jeans in Express, only to find that hardly any of their pants go down to size 29. Not cool.

Even worse, I’m now at this weird point where Express’ Rocco line of jeans, which I like (slim fit, low rise, straight leg), just aren’t comfortable in 29×30. But all the other jeans (classic fit, regular rise, etc.) are too big at 29×30. So I’m in this state of denim limbo, where 29-slim is too small, but 29-regular is too big. So now I have to wear a belt. I hate belts!

Express: fix your pant sizes, please!

consistency is awesome. I’ve given up on trying to figure out if things fit, so I just buy size 10 pants, and hope for the best. Sometimes they fall down, or show my butt crack, and it’s totes gross! And sometimes they are too tight and give me tummyaches. But, whatevs. Too lazy to deal with belts. Or fitting rooms. Whatevs!

lol. But girl pants are generally less expensive unless they’re really high-end, right? Guy pants aren’t quite the same, so I’d regret not putting new jeans through all my dozens of tests before I actually plunked down the cash for ‘em.

Perhaps we could mount a fashion industry protest campaign!
