“From the burning building where I lay…”

Before I go to bed, I do want to say that there definitely is something essential, or some combination of essential things, that I feel are currently missing from my life. I can’t put my finger on what it is or what they are, but life hasn’t been as wholly fulfilling as it was last [...]

It’s becoming light outside as I write this

Today was a pretty good day, as evidenced by the fact that I’m still awake at 5:43 AM and blogging.
It wasn’t as productive as I’d hoped in terms of schoolwork, but I still got a lot done. The bathroom is spic-and-span after I cleaned it for about an hour. Mirrors, sink, countertop, toilet (eww), tub, [...]

The most boring Friday night ever

Because I’m a procrastinating fool, I’ve neglected to start my History paper until five hours before it’s due. At midnight on a Friday night. Tonight is not going to be fun, at all. ::Sigh::
EDIT (10:27 PM): After about 90 minutes of writing, things are shaping up pretty nicely. Except my argument is getting hung up [...]

A quick update

I’m considering dropping a class. It’s raining outside and it sounds so foreign, since we haven’t had rain in quite a while. I like it.
And things overall are pretty good.

Dilemma: too big, but also too small

I’ve been buying clothes exclusively from Express since my brother started working there. It’s cool: the clothes are pretty stylish, and I think they make me look nice. Plus, it’s a bit of a niche market at Wes to be wearing something other than grungy tattered stuff, or cling-wrap hipster jeans with four layers of [...]

An addendum to the day’s negativity

It’s 67º outside in the middle of a late-September night. The crickets are out. And it’s going to be 90º today. Weird, but delightful. And I think my mood is progressing toward that same state, as well. Slowly, but surely, it’ll be delightful again.
Interesting phone conversation tonight with Erica and her housemate Renee, by the [...]

Mae’s “Just Let Go”

Because I like to post beautiful, meaningful lyrics with no context, so that no one really knows the meaning behind the entry. And because this is so much happier than my last entry:
We’ve got all night just to make it all right
Would you take a walk with me?
I’ll give you all I’ve got, just spare [...]

Falling deeper into a hole

This cold is only getting worse; today a more phlegmy cough developed, and the fatigue seems to be getting worse. I finished most of my reading for today’s classes, but upon waking up decided I was in no shape to attend class and emailed both professors the news. Ruddiman was really nice and sent an [...]

As I sit here listening to Canadian indie rock

CBC Radio 3, an Internet radio station accessible through iTunes (also on Sirius satellite radio, and on the Web), plays so much good music. Canadian indie rock is excellent. It’s through this station that I recently discovered The Weakerthans and their song “Civil Twilight,” whose lyrics I posted earlier. I can’t stop listening to it.
I [...]
