The mercury’s rising, as are my spirits

The temperature climbed to over 90º today, and it was bright and sunny all day long. It was glorious, and a sure sign that summer has arrived. I’m elated.

Other than the arrival of the hot weather, not much happened today. I spent the better part of the day trying to get the cable internet set up. I did succeed in getting a home network set up—very nice—but after an hour talking with specialists at Comcast, we determined that the only problem left must be either street-level or something with the wiring in the house. They want to charge us $49.50 for someone to come out and get everything working, as they officially see it as a “failed self-installation.” Grr. If we go that route, someone may be by Saturday to take a look at the wiring.

In the meantime, I’m sharing all the printers in the house across my wired/wireless network. It’s pretty nifty. We’re also file sharing across all the computers, and sharing music. My brother and I can text message and video chat with each other from our rooms (practical purpose? none) and we can effortlessly transmit our music and files. It’s quite nifty.

After getting frustrated with Comcast (the second call), I went out for a bike ride. Woo! It felt so good to be out there again. I busted my balls and pedaled as fast as I could, and ended up at Chris’ house. We hung around for a little bit and talked about practicing Jeet Kune Do together, and girls, and the usual. Then I finished up my ride around town. Not much has changed since I was last home. The Flame of Fire Covenant Church closed down; the Congregationalist church near the center got a new sign. That’s all I noticed.

Justin: Before and AfterOh, and I rode past Lindsay Kane walking with her mom. I don’t know if she recognized me. Then again, I don’t know if most Abington people would recognize me. I look a lot different than I did the last time most of them saw me—two years ago at graduation.

Well, I’m going to go to bed now, or at least soon. I’ve got to drive everyone down to Fall River at 11 to get these hot dogs, then it’s the beach for the rest of the day. It’s going to be 93º! I can’t wait.

Yeah, I agree that you look better now. You’ve definitely changed a lot since coming to Wesleyan, on the inside as well as the out. I think it’s been for the better.

Also, the Douglas Cannon showed up at commencement! Whoa!

Woo! Janet, you’re reading ASD again; I’m thrilled! Also, I’m happy you think that the sum of my changes has been for the better.

Douglas Cannon: crazy! I hope it doesn’t instantly disappear.

Hey, I’ve been reading… just not this past week because I had no internet. I’m bad at commenting, is all. Hope you’re having fun in the sun!
