There’s nothing quite like the smell of fire soaked into one’s skin, hair, and clothes to make it feel like summer again. In other news, I’m watching NBC’s Poker After Dark. It’s quite addictive, and makes me want to play some poker. George and I had been talking about refurbishing Betsy, our poker table. I think we should do that soon!
So yes, tonight Eve, Josh, Lyse, and I went down to Deluxebury to hit up the beach. There was no harbormaster on duty, which made everything so much easier—no threat of him driving out and making us put the fire out.
The sky was clear and beautiful: so many stars! The moon was a little less than half full, so it still had its pretty crescent shape. When we were leaving, there were two jet trails, one above and one below the moon. As we neared the sand bridge to the parking lot, the trails had moved so that the one that had previously been below the moon was now crossing in front of it. We watched as it cut across the moon, and eventually moved above it. It was so pretty.
We hit up Wendy’s afterwards and kept switching parking spaces to be next to everyone else who pulled into the parking lot. It made it really awkward since we didn’t want to make eye contact after being so silly, but it was hilarious all the same. At one point I pulled my car up on the left of this purple Malibu, and Josh pulled his car up on its right. I wonder what the kids in that car were thinking?
So, on the agenda for this week:
- Finish cleaning my room
- Fix the blown speaker in my car
- Install cable internet and set up home network
- Weep over paying my auto insurance
- Get gas, go to bank, and buy Bubbaloo gum
- Take photos at Ames Nowell
- Help dad with residing the house
Tori Amos’ video for “Big Wheel” is so weird. “MILF! Don’t U 4 Get!” Uhh.. yeah?
