A conversation with my dad

Me: “So, I got another A in a Religion course. I’m going to declare a double-major in American Studies and Religion.” Dad: “So are either of those things going to be useful in life?” Me: “Dad, I’m going to a liberal arts school. Nothing I learn is going to be useful in life.” Also, it’s [...]

An update on summer activities thus far

See that house on the left? That’s the house we just scored for junior year. While everyone else is in LoRise, HiRise, or even the dorms, we filled out (thanks to Claire) a housing transfer form and ended up with an effin’ senior house! How cool is that?! The house looks huge, and has what [...]

I am now forced to double-major in Religion

I told myself that if I got another “A” in a Religion class, I’d declare a double-major in Religion. Well, I got the third of my four grades back today, and I earned A’s in both RELI101 and RELI212. Woo! Now I’m just waiting on my grade in AMST156.

Biking and beaches, thoughts and observations

Memorial Day was sweet. I woke up to my dad sarcastically asking me if I was going to let my alarm go off all day long, at noon. I decided it was a good as time as ever to wake up (and shut my alarm), so I did. My mom made me a sandwich and [...]

I’d like my grades sometime before next semester

I have only half of my grades from spring semester. My professors for AMST156 and RELI212 still have yet to submit my grades. I’m getting anxious! One more “A” in Religion and I’m going to declare a double major.

Mm, mm, good: the past three days

So, summer at home is pretty darn sweet. The past few days are proof. On Friday, I was awoken unfortunately early by my dad, who told me that the cable guy called and wanted to reschedule his visit from between 2-5 to 10:00 AM. Ew. The Comcast van pulled up, my mom let him in [...]

The mercury’s rising, as are my spirits

The temperature climbed to over 90º today, and it was bright and sunny all day long. It was glorious, and a sure sign that summer has arrived. I’m elated. Other than the arrival of the hot weather, not much happened today. I spent the better part of the day trying to get the cable internet [...]

The X-Files, and a mildly productive day

The combination of cable TV and my nocturnal habits is a recipe for disaster. TNT has just shown three episodes of The X-Files in a row. It is at once entirely satisfying and entirely inconvenient for its timing. Either way, yesterday was a mildly productive day. I woke up late, started cleaning my room, and [...]

The days are so effin’ long lately

It’s not even 5:00 AM and it’s plenty light out. What’s up with this? I’m going to bed.

First night at the beach

There’s nothing quite like the smell of fire soaked into one’s skin, hair, and clothes to make it feel like summer again. In other news, I’m watching NBC’s Poker After Dark. It’s quite addictive, and makes me want to play some poker. George and I had been talking about refurbishing Betsy, our poker table. I [...]
